Dan Winnberg - Administrator |
Dan Winnberg has recently joined The Church of the Open Bible as the pastor. Dan has served for the last twelve years at Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, MI. He served most recently as one of the pastors for instruction and discipleship as well as associate professor of homiletics at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Dan has also served as a Bible teacher at Inter-City Baptist High School and Network Administrator for the church and all of its ministries. He completed his M.Div. and Th.M. degrees at DBTS and is currently pursuing a D.Min. at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, IL. Dan enjoys running, reading, drinking coffee, and hacking on computer networks. He and his wife, Meredith, have a son, Dylan, and two daughters, Megan and Mackenzie.

Emily Bell - School Secretary |

Emily Bell attended Northland International University and is an alumna of the Open Bible Academy. Emily splits her time between school and church secretary and does just about anything. The Bells have three children at OBA.

Leah Bergquist - Fine Arts Coordinator |

Leah Bergquist graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music. Before joining the staff at OBA, she taught at Christian schools in Georgia, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. She currently teaches private piano and flute lessons at OBA and accompanies the High School Choir and other music groups. Leah is very involved in the music ministry at COB.

Michelle Makso - K4 and K5 and After-School |

Shelly Makso graduated from Clearwater Christian College in 2010 earning her BA degree in Elementary Education. She currently holds an elementary educator license in the state of Florida and is working toward her Massachusetts license as well. Her childcare and teaching experience range from infant through second grade. She currently lives in Woburn with her husband.

Heidi Hunter - First and Second Grade Supervisor |

Heidi Hunter graduated from Bob Jones University where she received her BS in Elementary Education. She is currently educator certified in the states of South Carolina and Massachusetts. Through both educational and work experience, she has worked with Infant-Preschool, K4&5, 1st, and 3rd-5th graders in a variety of Christian and public schools. Mrs. Hunter enjoys working closely with children in a hands-on, interactive environment that develops knowledge and skills in her students that will enable them to walk closer with God and grow to be successful young adults.

Stacy Evans - Fifth and Sixth Grade Supervisor |

Stacy Evans earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College. She has been teaching at Christian schools for over 13 years. She has taught in Christian schools in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Hawaii. Stacy is an avid sports fan and loves following college and professional hockey.

Rebekah Root - Seventh and Eighth Grade Supervisor |

Rebekah Root grew up in Virginia where she attended a Christian school from preschool through 12th grade. The Lord led her to Bob Jones University in South Carolina where she majored in elementary education with an English minor. After earning her bachelor's degree in 2002, she went on to get a master's degree in counseling. Rebekah taught 6th grade at a Christian school in Virginia before moving to Massachusetts, and she has been teaching at OBA since 2006.

Roger Bedsaul - Senior High Supervisor |
Roger Bedsaul has been the Senior High Supervisor at OBA since it's founding in 1976. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Roger has taught Algebra, Geometry, Consumer Math, English and Grammar, History, and Government classes. Roger is the only staff member that has been with OBA since the beginning and brings valuable experience to the team of teachers at OBA.

Paul Mangum - High School Bible |

Paul Mangum oversees all aspects of our high school Bible program. With over 50 years teaching experience, he is a tremendous asset to our faculty. Paul graduated from Washington Bible College with a BA and subsequently earned a ThM at Capital Bible Seminary. Paul and his wife, Adele, have 8 grown children and too many grandchildren to count!

Janna Shukri - Senior High Literature |
Janna Shukri attended the Open Bible Academy from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. She has since earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Bob Jones University, and is currently earning her master’s degree in Special Education at Salem State University. Janna is educator certified in the state South Carolina, and on her way to receiving her certification in Massachusetts as well. Janna has always enjoyed working with children of all ages, and is excited to see how the Lord will use her and teach her through her eleventh and twelfth grade American Literature and Grammar class this year.

Heath Marvin - Business Manager |
Heath Marvin has his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Business from Northeastern University and works as an Applications Engineer at Cypress Semiconductor. Heath served for three years as administrator at OBA before returning full-time to engineering. Heath manages the budgets and finances of the school.

Holly White - K and Elementary Aid |

Holly White has worked with elementary students at OBA since 2002. For the past 4 years, she has been a kindergarten co-teacher and this year she is working as an aid for the elementary. She loves going to school each day and being with all her students.
Holly and her husband, Rick, have two grown children. Her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him; and he shall direct thy paths."

Monica Chamberlain - Third and Fourth Grade Supervisor |

Monica Chamberlain graduated from the Burlington Bible Institute in 1983. Following her graduation, she joined the staff at OBA as a teaching assistant. In 1987, she left OBA to stay at home and raise her 4 kids--3 of whom have graduated from the Academy. She rejoined the staff in 2000 as third and fourth grade supervisor and has been teaching full-time ever since. Monica and her husband, Bill, have been leading the teen ministry at the church for over 15 years.

Millie Hemingway - Ninth and Tenth Grade Supervisor |
Millie Hemingway is the ninth and tenth grade supervisor and teaches math and English. She graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and a Second Field Proficiency in English Education. Millie has been teaching in Christian schools since 2001 and joined OBA in 2007. She loves her students and believes that the Lord has called her to work specifically in Christian schools with second-generation Christians, encouraging them to make the Biblical truths they have learned a part of their lives.

Ginnie Shannon - High School Science |
Ginnie Shannon is the science teacher for seventh through twelfth grades. She graduated from the
University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. She has worked as an Air Quality
Meteorologist for private industry and worked on the space shuttle project as a college student. Ginnie
has 20 years of experience teaching at the Open Bible Academy. Preparing students for college and
exciting students to study God’s creation are her goals.

Carolyn Carbone - High School Math |

Carolyn Carbone earned a BA in Economics and French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine where she studied abroad at the Universite de Caen in Normandy, France. Shortly thereafter, she earned a Masters in Finance from Boston College. Mrs. Carbone worked 8+ years in financial services where she was an operations manager at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Carolyn oversaw the record keeping and valuation of billions of dollars in international investments, designed enhancements for the accounting system and oversaw training. In 1994, Mrs. Carbone retired from the world of financial services to raise a family and later joined the staff at the OBA where she teaches music and flute as well as high school mathematics. Mrs. Carbone is a wife and mother of three children who currently attend OBA.

Brandon Webster - High School Choir |
|

A plumber by day and a musician by night, Brandon Webster directs the OBA High School Choir and teaches music in the high school. Brandon graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and has since earned his plumbing license. Brandon also directs the church choir, leads many music groups, and works with his sister, Leah, in composing new songs.
