Rebekah Root - Seventh and Eighth Grade Supervisor

Rebekah Root

 

Rebekah Root grew up in Virginia where she attended a Christian school from preschool through 12th grade. The Lord led her to Bob Jones University in South Carolina where she majored in elementary education with an English minor. After earning her bachelor's degree in 2002, she went on to get a master's degree in counseling. Rebekah taught 6th grade at a Christian school in Virginia before moving to Massachusetts, and she has been teaching at OBA since 2006.

Millie Hemingway - Ninth and Tenth Grade Supervisor
Millie Hemingway

 

Millie Hemingway is the ninth and tenth grade supervisor and teaches math and English. She graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and a Second Field Proficiency in English Education. Millie has been teaching in Christian schools since 2001 and joined OBA in 2007. She loves her students and believes that the Lord has called her to work specifically in Christian schools with second-generation Christians, encouraging them to make the Biblical truths they have learned a part of their lives.

Roger Bedsaul - Senior High Supervisor
Roger Bedsaul

 

Roger Bedsaul has been the Senior High Supervisor at OBA since it's founding in 1976. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Roger has taught Algebra, Geometry, Consumer Math, English and Grammar, History, and Government classes. Roger is the only staff member that has been with OBA since the beginning and brings valuable experience to the team of teachers at OBA.

Ginnie Shannon - High School Science
Ginnie Shannon

 

Ginnie Shannon is the science teacher for seventh through twelfth grades. She graduated from the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. She has worked as an Air Quality Meteorologist for private industry and worked on the space shuttle project as a college student. Ginnie has 20 years of experience teaching at the Open Bible Academy. Preparing students for college and exciting students to study God’s creation are her goals.

Paul Mangum - High School Bible

Paul Mangum

 

Paul Mangum oversees all aspects of our high school Bible program. With over 50 years teaching experience, he is a tremendous asset to our faculty. Paul graduated from Washington Bible College with a BA and subsequently earned a ThM at Capital Bible Seminary. Paul and his wife, Adele, have 8 grown children and too many grandchildren to count!

Carolyn Carbone - High School Math

Carolyn Carbone

 

Carolyn Carbone earned a BA in Economics and French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine where she studied abroad at the Universite de Caen in Normandy, France. Shortly thereafter, she earned a Masters in Finance from Boston College. Mrs. Carbone worked 8+ years in financial services where she was an operations manager at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Carolyn oversaw the record keeping and valuation of billions of dollars in international investments, designed enhancements for the accounting system and oversaw training. In 1994, Mrs. Carbone retired from the world of financial services to raise a family and later joined the staff at the OBA where she teaches music and flute as well as high school mathematics. Mrs. Carbone is a wife and mother of three children who currently attend OBA.

Janna Shukri - Senior High Literature
Janna Shukri

 

Janna Shukri attended the Open Bible Academy from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. She has since earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Bob Jones University, and is currently earning her master’s degree in Special Education at Salem State University. Janna is educator certified in the state South Carolina, and on her way to receiving her certification in Massachusetts as well. Janna has always enjoyed working with children of all ages, and is excited to see how the Lord will use her and teach her through her eleventh and twelfth grade American Literature and Grammar class this year.

Brandon Webster - High School Choir

Brandon Webster

 

A plumber by day and a musician by night, Brandon Webster directs the OBA High School Choir and teaches music in the high school. Brandon graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and has since earned his plumbing license. Brandon also directs the church choir, leads many music groups, and works with his sister, Leah, in composing new songs.
